SEA-TAC Chooses MELTRIC

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), known for its dedication to efficiency and passenger convenience, recently undertook a groundbreaking $540 million project to optimize its baggage handling system. A crucial component of this success story is MELTRIC® Corporation's innovative, UL-Listed, Switch-Rated plugs and receptacles. The connectors played a pivotal role in ensuring robust electrical connections for the project.

About the Baggage Handling Project

The project, led by SEA Program Lead Ed Weitz, aimed to consolidate six separate baggage handling systems into a single, highly efficient centralized system. This was all while containing the project within the airport's existing footprint. This initiative had more than one result. It increased the system's efficiency but also reduced the number of state-of-the-art explosives detection screening (EDS) machines required. To support this transformation, MELTRIC's connectors were chosen to guarantee the seamless and reliable flow of power throughout the system.

Why MELTRIC Devices Were Chosen

MELTRIC designs electrical technology for safety and reliability, making it an ideal choice for the airport's demanding baggage system. The devices are not only safe for workers but also robust enough to withstand the high demands of a major international airport's operations. Furthermore, these connectors contribute to the system's efficiency, a key focus of the entire project, by minimizing downtime and maximizing operational uptime.
