Zone 2 Hazardous Location Plugs and Receptacles
MELTRIC Zone 2 Hazardous Location plugs and receptacles are CSA/CUS listed for use in Class 1 Zone 2 and Class 1 Division 2 hazardous locations, making them suitable for use in areas where an explosive gaseous atmosphere may exist under abnormal conditions. MELTRIC Zone 2 plugs and receptacles use spring-loaded, silver-nickel butt contacts that provide excellent conductivity, corrosion resistance, and optimal contact pressure, resulting in superior performance that is maintained for thousands of operations.
Zone 2 devices are not meant for current interruption and include safety features to prevent accidental disconnection. An Allen Head screw-type locking pawl is used to secure the plug and receptacle in the mated position. This prevents accidental disconnection under load. It can also be used to lock the receptacle lid closed.
For added security, a lockout hole is provided on the receptacle pawl. Users can insert a 5/16” diameter lock or locking pin through the lockout hole to padlock the plug and receptacle in the connected position, or to lock the receptacle lid in the closed position.
